Poseidon was the Greek God of the sea but he was also called the Earth-shaker in Homer because he was the one who sent Earthquakes.Because of these powers the animal dedicated to him was the horse,therefore you will hear still today the expression ” ride the/on waves”.
His retinue consisted mainly of mermaids and other sea creatures.
He lives under the seas but sometimes also on Mount Olympus because he was one the the 12 Main Gods and brother of Zeus.
